Reader’s Rides Vehicles

This 1985 Chevrolet C10 Pickup, owned by fullauto05, has an estimated 540 horsepower. All of this truck’s torque and power comes from a stout 383cid engine. To complete this C10 Pickup’s powertrain, a TH400 transmission is used. With the help of a Livingston/Offroad Design/Alcan Spring/King Shocks suspension, this Chevrolet is a real off road machine. About my C10 Pickup

Vehicle:  
•  1985 Chevrolet 1/2 ton Stepside.  I'm the original owner!

Engine:  
•  350 4 bolt block stroked to 383 with SCAT 4340 Chromoly crank and 6.0” H-Beam rods.  
•  Zero decked block with Trick Flow 72cc aluminum heads outfitted with Comp Cams ovate beehive springs.
•  Trick Flow roller rockers, and a Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam.
•  Keith Black Hypereutectic 11.5 to 1 pistons with Total Seal piston rings.  
•  Edlebrock Victor Jr. match ported to the heads.  
•  Custom Quickfuel 850 cfm double-pump carburetor, set-up for offroad.
•  Custom modified 1 3/4" Schoenfeld headers with SPS flange plates.  
•  MSD ignition.
•  Custom built valve covers and oil pan.
•  The result:  Dyno'd 539 horsepower and 509 lb/ft torque.  (The engine was built by myself.)

Transmission:  
•  PAE custom built Turbo 400 Switch Pitch with stall ranges from 1100 low lock to 5000 rpm.  
•  Stef's deep sump oil pan.

Transfer case(s):  
•  NP 205/203 outfitted with Offroad Design doubler with twin stick kit.  
•  Custom built transfer case/transmission cross-member.  (Designed and built by myself.)

Drive-shafts:  
•  High Angle custom with 1350 CV's and 1450 pinions on both shafts.
•  High Angle transfer case parking brake setup.

Axles:  
•  Dana 70 "B" rear with 4:56 gears Detroit Locker.
•  Dana 60 front with 4:56 gears and Detroit Locker, 35 spline stubs

Steering:  
•  Lee hydraulic steering assist which includes a modified hydra-boost brake booster, modified crossover steering box, modified pump, and Lee's custom hydraulic ram.
•  Steering also includes the high steer and crossover conversion from Offroad Design.

Wheels/Tires:    
•  Trailready bead locks
•  Parnelli Jones 36X14.50X16  Going to 38X15.50X16 SSR's

Suspension:
•  Custom Spec'd 6" lift Alcan springs (With help from Steve Watson from Offroad Design.) with Military wrap, and locator pin moved 1.5 inches forward.  
•  King 2 “reservoir shocks with 14” travel and McKenzie’s limiting straps.  
•  Rear Offroad Design shackle flip.
•  Custom fabricated shock towers and spare tire holder.  (Jointly designed by Tony Jimenez of TJ Custom and myself.)

The front pre-runner style push-bar was custom designed and fabricated from 2" .120 DOM 1018 tubing.  The winch box was CAD designed and sent to Tab Zone in Prescott, AZ to be laser cut and formed.  The full cab roll cage (1 3/4 .120 DOM 1018) and the pre-runner were designed and fabricated by Cesar Gonzalez and myself.

This project took place in my shop space as well as my house.

I estimate the value to be in excess of $40,000.00.
